Stuck in a fitness rut? It’s not that you are not motivated. You turn up to your workout, playlist on point. You have hundreds of Instagram mini workout videos saved to your phone. Yet you leave post-workout feeling deflated and guilty that it could have been so much more.
There are many factors that can affect your workout potential – stress, time, lack of knowledge, self-doubt, gym fear, health, relationship issues (I have been there where I have been stressing over that boy and my mind is completely elsewhere or I keep stopping to send that “and another thing text”).
However, despite the above, you can get the best out of every workout. This is where I can help you. You need to have a plan for every workout, I write mine on my phone. You can divide your weekly workouts into body sections (upper body, legs and bum, abs and core) or make each one full body. Have a look online at workouts you would like to try or follow this simple format:
IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE STUCK IN A FITNESS RUT, TRY THE FOLLOWING…
9 exercises – 3 sets of 10 reps for each exercise (they can be weights or body weight)
e.g Upper body – (bicep curl, lat pulldown, push-ups, shoulder press, chest press, tricep dips, bent over row, dumbbell fly, lateral raise).
If you don’t know how to use a machine ask a member of the gym floor staff – it is what they are there for.
WRITE IT DOWN
By writing it down you can get to the gym, warm up, do your planned workout, cool down stretch and get home. Time your rests making sure they are 30 seconds and not (5 minutes on Facebook). Your time is precious, you don’t want to waste it!
MIX IT UP
Keep your workouts varied and challenging – if you found something easy, then increase the weight or change the tempo. This will help you progress to reach your goals and keep you on track. Keep hydrated, fuel your body right after the workout.
I will be posting workout videos on my Youtube channel soon that you can follow along with in real time.
I hope you found this useful? Send me a message if I can help you with your plan or, if you’re Buckinghamshire based, don’t forget to book your free consultation so that I can help you with a strategy to reach your goals.
