FEELING LEFT BEHIND?
If so, don’t worry – it’s something that affects us all at one time or another…
We are all guilty of pre-planning our life – an idealistic view of when our life impacting moments will happen – love, marriage, children, career. Society has a way of making you feel like you should of achieved certain things by a certain age or you are failure or missing out.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
When I hit my 30’s feeling left behind in life really consumed me. What is it about being 30 that changes us? I am 36 now and felt sure I would be married with 2 kids by now. But priorities in my life changed and I pursued a career I loved – meaning more travel and less time for hunting my husband.
Truth is when I look back over the last 5 years I wouldn’t of been ready – I was in a job that the hours were crazy, in an industry that consumed my life. I wasn’t truly in love with anyone and I was still discovering me. Yet I felt frustrated that I had this time bomb against me.
ITS ALL MADE UP
But this timetable we have in our heads is made up. There are billion’s of people in the world we can’t all do things at the same time. We are all unique with different aspirations and expectations. Who are we trying to compare ourselves to? Other’s on Instagram, our friends, fictional characters in movies?
IT’S YOUR SCHEDULE
Take a look at everything that has happened to get to where you are now. Failed relationships, missed opportunities, challenging times… those events taught you something even if you didn’t realise at the time, and they allowed the door to open to where you are now. Sometimes we really expect or think something is meant for us so much that the disappointment really knocks you back and you think you are failing but really bigger better things are on the horizon. Trust me!!!
